It's been proven that "abstinence only" education INCREASES the incidence of STD's and teen pregnancy. "Abstinence only" is out of touch with reality and, therefore, an abject failure.We should look at the countries with low STD and teen-pregnancy rates and emulate them, rather than letting religious whack-jobs dictate our educational standards.

Per my reading, "Abstinence Only" programs do absolutely nothing to prevent under-age sex or STDs.  But they also don't do anything to increase sex and STDs, either.  Abstinence-only programs are a waste of money, but not inherently harmful.
